Allan W. Carlson CPA, P.C.
I am sometimes referred to as the accounting repair man. Many clients come to me with little or no records and want me to “fix” their problems. This has always been a strength of mine because I am a real world person rather than a book person who wears blinders. When I worked for the smaller CPA firms I was regularly given the box clients. Clients who would just bring in a box of "stuff" and I would straighten it out. What many clients perceive as a nightmare, I look at as a puzzle that just needs to be put together.
Of course starting at the beginning of a company's existence is always best. I can set up the company's books and show how to maintain them with ease. Some clients prefer to have me do all of the accounting on a monthly basis, some prefer a quarterly check up, while most do all of their recordkeeping and have me perform annual adjustments before preparing their tax returns.
I prefer to work with small companies and usually go to their location to do the work. This makes it easier on the client and helps me because any information I may need will be readily available. I do the same for my individual tax clients as well and I find they appreciate the personal attention.
